Hilton’s sustainable seafood goals will comprise the global ban of procurement of endangered species as identified by WWF, and the transition of its seafood purchasing to sustainable and responsible sources. By 2022, Hilton will source at least 25 percent of its total global seafood volume for owned, managed and leased properties from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified fisheries and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified farms. The remaining seafood will be sourced from fisheries and farms working toward MSC and ASC certification, comprehensive fishery and aquaculture improvement projects, or those listed as “green” on WWF regional seafood guides. WWF will help Hilton measure and report progress to ensure the company is on track to achieve its goals.


This commitment follows Hilton’s global ban on shark fin from restaurants and food & beverage facilities in 2014. In 2015, Hilton was first-in-industry to receive MSC chain-of-custody certifications in Europe and Asia. In the Americas, Hilton also sources shrimp from suppliers like Sysco that are committed to sustainable seafood.

At DRUPA, Comiflex Shakes Hands with Uflex to Make In India

Gateway House and MEA Bring Foreign Policy Debate to Mumbai

Mumbai is due to host a seminal foreign policy event, “The Gateway of India Dialogue: Where geopolitics meets business”, on 13-14 June. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs and Gateway House, the foreign policy think tank. The conference will feature a range of prominent foreign policy, trade and security issues.

This is the first time that such a high-level foreign affairs conference is taking place in Mumbai.  The city is India’s commercial capital and accounts for substantial foreign trade by both value and volume. The Gateway of India Dialogue event will bring together an Indian and international audience consisting of senior union ministers, leading industrialists, foreign ministers from neighbouring countries and policy experts.

The two-day event will be inaugurated by S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary, who will also deliver a keynote address on “Aligning Business and Strategic Goals”. Central ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Kiren Rijiju, as well as a broad range of panellists, will be addressing diverse issues such as global capital, the politics of energy, international trade agreements and cybersecurity.

Several senior international ministers are due to participate in the high-level meeting. These include Kamal Thapa, the Nepalese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, and Canada’s former Minsiter of Citizenship and Immigration Christopher Alexander. Global subject matter experts will drive the panel discussions, including Narendra Karmarkar, the creator of “Karmarkar’s algorithm”, who will contribute to the cybersecurity panel.

Leading industrialists like Adi Godrej and experts led by Mohandas Pai, Anshu Jain, and Manish Sabharwal will offer the business perspective on the same subjects.

The two-day meeting will conclude with a closing keynote by V K Singh, Honourable State Minister on “India’s Global Engagement Strategy: greater energy, growing aspirations.”

Further amplifying Mumbai’s increasing relevance to the foreign policy debate, the city is also playing host to “T20: Dialogue on Global Economic Governance” on 13 June.  The event is the official sub-forum of the G20 process, responsible for contributing ideas and research to the G20 on global economic issues. T20 will be attended by experts in international economics from over 30 leading think tanks from across Southeast and South Asia as well as from G20 countries. T20 and Gateway of India Dialogue delegates will be attending and speaking at each event respectively, adding their expertise to both.

आपने खबर पढ़ी होगी कि दो दिन पहले उत्तराखंड के एक आईएएस अधिकारी नोएडा के मॉल में अपनी पत्नी और दो छोटे बच्चों के साथ खाना खा रहे थे, तभी उन्हें दिल का दौरा पड़ा और उनकी मृत्यु हो गई। 39 साल के इस आईएएस अधिकारी का नाम था- अक्षत गुप्ता। ये उधमसिंह नगर में कलेक्टर थे।
इनकी पत्नी भी आईपीएस अधिकारी हैं और ये परिवार उत्तराखंड से नोएडा घूमने-फिरने के ख्याल से आया था। यह बताने के लिए मैं पोस्ट नहीं लिख रहा कि वो कितने लोकप्रिय अधिकारी थे, कितनी मेहनत करके वो आईएएस अधिकारी बने थे, या उनके दोनों बच्चे कितने छोटे हैं। मैं आज सिर्फ आगाह करने के लिए पोस्ट लिख रहा हूं कि उस अधिकारी के साथ अचानक जो हुआ, वो किसी के साथ कभी भी कहीं भी हो सकता है।
ऐसा जब भी होता है, पहले तो सामने वाले की समझ में नहीं आता कि अचानक हुआ क्या? फिर अफरा-तफरी में जब हम मरीज़ को अस्पताल ले जाते हैं, तो पता चलता है कि उसके प्राण-पखेरू उड़ चुके हैं।
जब भी किसी के साथ ऐसा होता है, तो उसके साथ वाले अगर चाहें, अगर बीमारी को ठीक से समझें, तो बहुत मुमकिन है कि वो बच जाए। दुनिया में कई लोग बचे भी हैं।
दरअसल, जब अचानक किसी के साथ ऐसा होता है, तो वह दिल का दौरा नहीं होता। यह हृदय घात कहलाता है। हार्ट अटैक और हार्ट फेल में अंतर होता है। हार्ट अटैक दिल की बीमारी होती है, पर इस मामले में हार्ट फेल हो जाता है। इस बीमारी का नाम होता है ‘सडेन कार्डियक अरेस्ट’।
मुझे नहीं पता कि हमारे देश के स्कूलों में इस तरह की चीजें क्यों नहीं पढ़ाई जातीं, पर विदेशों में इस बारे में लोगों को बचपन से ही खूब अागाह कर दिया जाता है।
सडेन कार्डियक अरेस्ट शब्द को आप गूगल पर टाइप करें और इस विषय में और जानकारी जुटाएं। इस जानकारी को सिर्फ अपने पास मत रखिए, उसे लोगों तक पहुंचाएं। इसका असली फायदा ही लोगों तक इस जानकारी का पहुंचने का है। सिर्फ आप इस बारे में जान कर अपना भला नहीं कर सकते।
कल्पना कीजिए कि जिस वक्त उस आईएएस अधिकारी के साथ उस रेस्त्रां में ये घटना घटी, अगर किसी व्यक्ति को इस बीमारी के विषय में पता होता, अगर खुद उनकी आईपीएएस पत्नी इस विषय में जानतीं, तो शायद वो अधिकारी बच जाता।
सडेन कार्डियक अरेस्ट कोई बीमारी नहीं है। यह हृदय घात है। कभी भी किसी का भी दिल पल भर के लिए काम करना बंद कर देता है। ठीक वैसे ही, जैसे बिना किसी वज़ह के कई बार घर की बिजली का फ्यूज़ उड़ जाता है। यह भी शरीर का फ्यूज़ उड़ने की तरह है।
जब कभी किसी को हृदय घात हो, उसकी छाती पर ज़ोर से मारना चाहिए, इतनी ज़ोर से कि चाहे पसलियां टूट जाएं, पर दिल की धड़कन दुबारा शुरू हो जाए। याद रहे, जितनी जल्दी आपकी समझ में ये बात आ जाएगी कि यह हृदय घात है, उतनी संभावना सामने वाले के बचने की होती है। एक मिनट के बाद देर होनी शुरू हो जाती है। आपको बस इसे पहचानना है कि यह सडेन कार्डियक अरेस्ट है।
ऐसा जब भी हो, आप पाएंगे कि मरीज की नब्ज रुक गई है। सांस भी रुक गई है। बस यहीं आपको डॉक्टर बुलाने से पहले प्राथमिक उपचार करने की ज़रूरत है। डॉक्टर को ख़बर करें, अस्पताल भी ले जाने की तैयारी करें, पर पहले उसकी छाती पर दोनों हाथों से जोर-जोर से मारें ताकि उसकी सांस लौट आए। ध्यान रहे, अगर सांस तुरंत लौट आती है, तो मरीज़ बच जाता है, वर्ना पाचं मिनट के बाद तो डॉक्टर भी हाथ खड़े कर लेगा। और आप इसे ईश्वर का विधान मान कर मन मसोस कर रह जाएंगे।
अमेरिका में बहुत से लोगों के साथ ऐसा होता है। वहां दुकानों, मॉल्स में ऐसी मशीन रखी रहती है, जिससे दिल को जिलाने का काम लिया जाता है। बहुत से मरीज बच जाते हैं। वहां के लोगों को इस मशीन को चलाने की ट्रेनिंग दी जाती है।

मुझे लगता है कि उस अधिकारी को अस्पताल ले जाने से पहले इस तरह का प्राथमिक उपचार हुआ होता तो वो बच जाता। अगर ऐसा ही फिल्मी कलाकार संजीव कुमार के साथ हुआ होता तो वो भी बच जाते। शफी ईनामदार, अमज़द खान भी हृदयघात से ही मरे थे। उन्हें भी प्राथमिक उपचार मिला होता तो वो आज ज़िंदा होते। अगर लोग गाड़ी ढूंढ कर अस्पताल ले जाने की जगह पहले सावित्री आसन की विद्या को प्रयोग में लाए .
काश! काश! काश!
ज़िंदगी में बहुत से काश से आप बच सकते हैं, अगर आप किसी विषय की तह में जाकर उसे समझने की कोशिश करेंगे, अगर आप बीमारी को ठीक से समझने की कोशिश करेंगे। ईश्वरीय विधान से ऊपर कुछ नहीं। पर आदमी को कोशिश तो करनी ही चाहिए।
मैं तो इतना ही कह सकता हूं कि हमारी सरकार को शिक्षा पाठ्यक्रम में इन विषयों को शामिल करना चाहिए और इन्हें ज़रूर पढ़ाना चाहिए, ताकि आदमी जीना सीख सके।
