Delhi police seals Delhi borders, ahead of Jat protests

As a precautionary measure, regarding Jat protests on Monday, Delhi police has sealed border areas coming to Delhi. Due to this thousands of commuters heading towards NOIDA from Delhi are currently facing heavy traffic jam on (DND) flyover ahead of Jat protests. Authorities have ceased the borders to maintain the law and order in the capital.

An over five-km-long jam started around 12:30 pm. DND flyover, Sector 14A and Mahamaya flyover are mostly affected after the ceasing of borders.

Ports, containers searched in five cities over fake currency alert

The Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) carried out extensive searches at container depots in Chennai, Tughlakabad, Kanpur, Kolkata and Mumbai following a tip-off about large consignments of fake Indian currency notes being brought in through ports.

Import cargo was frozen at three sea ports in Tamil Nadu and Chennai airport. The operation began early morning and was on till the time of going to the press.

India told to raise vital issues affecting ties between Indo- Pak: Pakistan’ High Commissioner

ISLAMABAD: Emphasising the need for revival of dialogue, Pakistan told India on Saturday that while terrorism remains a serious challenge to deal with there are other issues of equal importance that the two countries should address to bring improvement to their ties.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit said that apart from terrorism other issues like Kashmir, Siachen and Sir Creek had also impacted the ties. These are the core issues required to be dealt with simultaneously, he added.

The candid talk from the ambassador came in response to queries from the host of India Today’s TV programme ‘India Conclave 2017’ telecast on Saturday.
