The Patient Safety Movement announced today that for the 2nd year in a row, former President Carter is demonstrating his support for the Movement’s goal of zero preventable deaths by 2020 by offering an opportunity to join the former President and First Lady Rosalynn for a private fishing trip in Georgia.

The top two healthcare institutions that have committed to saving the highest number of lives through commitments to implementing processes such as Actionable Patient Safety Solutions (APSS) by August 31, 2016 will be selected to go on this exclusive trip. We are hoping to double the 400 entrants we had last year. I’m certain the winners last year will never forget the fly-fishing fun and intimate group discussions they had with President Carter and First Lady Rosalynn. Topics ranged from world events to challenges and opportunities facing patient safety,” said Joe Kiani, Founder of the Patient Safety Movement Foundation. “The Carter Center has helped improve the quality of life for more than 80 countries and is on the verge of eradicating guinea worm disease, the second disease ever to be eradicated, after small pox. We appreciate their support in recognizing those that are helping to eliminate preventable patient deaths.”

About The Patient Safety Movement Foundation

More than 3,000,000 people worldwide, including 200,000 people in the US, die every year in hospitals in ways that could have been prevented. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation was established through the support of the Masimo Foundation for Ethics, Innovation, and Competition in Healthcare, to reduce the number of preventable deaths to 0 by 2020 (0X2020) in the US and dramatically worldwide. Improving patient safety will require a collaborative effort from all stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, medical technology companies, government, employers, and private payers. The Patient Safety Movement Foundation works with all stakeholders to address the problems and solutions of patient safety. The Foundation also convenes the annual World Patient Safety, Science and Technology summit. The Summit presents specific, actionable solutions to meet patient safety challenges, encouraging medical technology companies to share the data for which their products are purchased, and asking hospitals to make commitments to implement Actionable Patient Safety Solutions. Redefining the Paradigm of ‘Walk to Work and Walk Back Home’, Hiranandani Business Park, Powai: Niranjan Hiranandani

Business Wire India
The success story of real estate is co-authored by different segments of real estate located within the same real estate hub. The integrated township, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai; which recently celebrated its silver jubilee, also owes its success to different segments other than high-end residential, retail, hospitality, F&B, academic and medical – the segment of ‘office and work spaces’.

The success story of office and work spaces within Hiranandani Gardens, Powai – the Hiranandani Business Park – not just redefined the paradigm of ‘walk to work and walk back home’, it also created a template that has been successfully recreated in Hiranandani Estate, Thane; and is in process of being re-created at Hiranandani Fortune City, Panvel. “It is all about creating world-class commercial spaces set within a Green, eco-friendly, mixed-use township,” said Niranjan Hiranandani, MD, Hiranandani Communities.

“When it comes to commercial real estate, any success story gets written only if it attracts attention from Global Companies, MNCs and domestic Corporate Entities looking out for commercial real estate which offers global standards of amenities and facilities. Hiranandani Business Park, Powai; did all that, it conceptualized a work culture that went beyond just business,” said Niranjan Hiranandani.

For businessmen and corporate entities, the Hiranandani Business Park in Powai has been an epitome of growth and an expression of path breaking innovation, which conceptualized a work culture that goes beyond just business. “It has dove-tailed with other segments of real estate that make up Hiranandani Gardens, Powai; making it a business destination that is not just well planned for workspaces, but is also situated in the midst of a peaceful neighborhoods, with shopping and entertainment – creating what was arguably, Mumbai’s first complete and constructive work ambience, set within a verdant green environment, where one could actually ‘walk to work and walk back home’,” added Niranjan Hiranandani.

Over the years, Commercial Space in Hiranandani Business Park, Powai has evolved into a Central Business District (CBD) in its own right, with an IT Park, an SEZ as also commercial and office spaces. It has ended up becoming the centre-point of business in Mumbai’s suburbia. Consider that within a radius of 5 kms around the Hiranandani Business Park, Powai; around 200,000 people report to work every day. Add to that more than 30,000 employees who work out of the Hiranandani Business Park. Plus, consider that it is located in the vicinity of major infrastructure establishments, which defines the location a well-established business destination, and you start to understand what makes it a CBD in its own right. “Hiranandani Business Park, Powai; was created to offer modern luxuries while being surrounded by the verdant greenery, situated a short distance from Powai Lake and amidst picturesque hills, making for the perfect office space located at the heart of nature,” explained Niranjan Hiranandani.

This comes along with location-based advantages: SEEPZ and the MIDC are both, a mere 3.5 km away, while large corporate campuses in vicinity include giants like Larsen & Toubro and Godrej. The International terminal of the CSI Airport is 5 km away, the Domestic terminal 12 kms. “The success story of Hiranandani Business Park, Powai has been written on work-spaces with global standards including buildings such as Alpha, Delphi, Fairmont, Sentinel, Winchester, Kensington, Ventura among others,’ said Niranjan Hiranandani. “In Powai, the Hiranandani Business Park has offered scalability to its clients with global architecture trends which include well-decorated entrances and lift lobbies of the buildings, while also offering value added services which include residential lease desk, project management and consultancy,” he added.

A successful template that is being recreated in Thane and Panvel, Hiranandani Business Park, Powai; is home to some of India’s most acclaimed and the world’s most revered corporations. “It is truly, among the best success stories of Mumbai’s commercial real estate,” said Niranjan Hiranandani. It provides a complete, responsive and productive work ambience with 24 x 7 work-and-live environment and world-class infrastructure. “It has been the ideal commercial space, offering comprehensive business solutions for enterprises geared to play an eminent role in this integrated world,” he added.

Kellogs, TCS, Wipro, Mearsk, Crisil, J.P. Morgan, Creditsuisse, G.E. , Deloitte, British Gas, Transocean, Colgate, General Mills, Petrofac, Basel, Syntel , Nomura, Cognizant, Accenture, Black & Veatch are among the corporate entities that work out of Hiranandani Business Park, Powai.

“Hiranandani Business Park, Powai, will not continue to leverage futuristic technology, innovative design and precision engineering; as a template it will result in creating many more such success stories in commercial real estate,” concluded Niranjan Hiranandani.

The poster presentations include switching data for the three Samsung Bioepis anti-TNF-α biosimilar molecules. The 100-, 78- and 52-week Phase III studies for Benepali®, Flixabi® and SB5, respectively, demonstrated comparable efficacy and safety profiles after transitioning from the reference product to the biosimilar version.

“Payers and healthcare providers must be given sufficient clinical evidence, so that they can make informed decisions when deciding whether to switch to a biosimilar treatment option,” said Christopher Hansung Ko, President & CEO of Samsung Bioepis. “Our clinical studies have demonstrated that transitioning from a reference product to its biosimilar version yields comparable outcomes with regards to both the efficacy and safety of treatment.”

Chul Kim, Vice President and Head of the Medical & Lifecycle Safety Team at Samsung Bioepis, added, “Long-term clinical data is essential for anti-TNF-α medicines, as chronic patients suffering from autoimmune diseases require treatment over an extended period of time that can last many years. We hope that our new clinical evidence on switching, as well as long-term efficacy and safety, will assist physicians in their daily decision making process and ultimately help benefit the quality of patient care.”

Highlights of the data are as follows:

  • Benepali® (etanercept), also known as SB4
In a randomized, double-blind 100-week Phase III study, 596 patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis were treated with either weekly dose of subcutaneous 50 mg SB4 or etanercept with background methotrexate. After 52 weeks, 245 patients participated in the extension study. 126 patients continued to receive SB4 (SB4/ SB4) and 119 patients switched from etanercept to SB4 (etanercept/SB4). Among them, 119 (94.4%) patients of SB4/SB4 and 113 (95.0%) patients of etanercept/SB4 completed the 100-week treatment. At Week 100, the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity profiles remained comparable between SB4/SB4 and etanercept/SB4 with ACR20 response rates of 77.9% and 79.1%, respectively. There were no treatment emergent issues, such as loss of efficacy, increase in adverse events or increase in immunogenicity.
  • Flixabi® (infliximab), also known as SB2
In a randomized, double-blind 78-week Phase III study, 584 patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SB2 or infliximab. At Week 54, 396 patients were re-randomized. 94 patients from infliximab were transitioned to SB2 (infliximab/SB2), 101 patients from infliximab continued to receive infliximab (infliximab/infliximab) and 201 patients from SB2continued to receive SB2 (SB2/SB2). Up to Week 78, the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity profiles remained comparable between the infliximab/SB2, infliximab/infliximab and SB2/SB2. There were no treatment emergent issues or clinically relevant immunogenicity.
  • SB5 (adalimumab) investigational biosimilar candidate
In a 52-week Phase III study, 508 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either SB5 or adalimumab 40 mg every other week via subcutaneous injection. At Week 24, 254 patients from SB5 continued to receive SB5 (SB5/SB5), 125 patients from adalimumab were transitioned to SB5 (adalimumab/SB5) and 129 patients from adalimumab continued to receive adalimumab (adalimumab/adalimumab). At Week 52, the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity profiles remained comparable between SB5/SB5, adalimumab/SB5 and adalimumab/adalimumab with ACR20 response rates of 76.9%, 81.1% and 71.2%, respectively. There were no treatment emergent issues or clinically relevant immunogenicity precipitated by switching. After transition up to Week 52, the incidence of anti-drug antibody was 15.7% in SB5/SB5, 16.8% in adalimumab/SB5 and 18.3% in adalimumab/adalimumab.

Housed in a compact SO-8 package, LYTSwitch-1 ICs are greater than 93% efficient with a PF of over 0.9 and THD as low as 15%. Devices can be used in a low-side buck topology for reduced EMI or in a high-side buck topology which simplifies design. Delivering up to 22 W without a heatsink, the universal input (100 – 308 VAC) ICs incorporate a 725 V MOSFET for high reliability. Designers can make use of small, off-the-shelf inductors due to a unique peak current control algorithm. The new devices meet all applicable international standards including: DOE 6 (external power supply), CEC Title 20 and 24, ENERGY STAR® SSL, EN61000-3-2 (C) plus China and India standards.

Comments Hubie Notohamiprodjo, director of product marketing at Power Integrations: “Low system complexity and high performance make LYTSwitch-1 ICs ideal for both commercial and residential lighting applications. The low component count and compact size make these LED driver ICs easy to fit into space-challenged applications such as tube end caps, small form factor candles and GU10 bulbs, as well as low cost A19 and decorative-filament lamps.”

In common with all Power Integrations products, LYTSwitch-1 LED driver ICs have a host of protection features including thermal foldback with end-stop shutdown, short circuit protection, input and output OVP, overcurrent and SOA protection.

LYTSwitch-1 IC samples are available now. Devices are priced at $0.26 in 10,000-piece quantities. Reference design DER-548 is available for download now from the Power Integrations website at https://www.power.com/lytswitch-1.

This new product has the following features:

  1. A sheet-form encapsulation material with a uniformly produced insulation layer thickness is ideal for the new coreless process*1, as it eliminates the need for laser drilling processing. The insulation layer for a package substrate can be produced using a large-area press process, enabling the mass production of packages at lower cost.
  2. – Sheet thickness is available in the range of 20 – 200 µm.
  3. The high rigidity of the thin sheet encapsulation material minimizes any warpage of packages and contributes to a thinner profile. Modulus of elasticity: 17000 MPa at 25°C.
  4. A low shrinkage rate of material ensures connection reliability to be maintained during high-temperature reflow processes, increasing the production yield of the package assembly process.
– Shrinkage rate: 0.003%*2

*1: Copper pillar resin encapsulation process
*2: Shrinkage rate before and after IR reflow at up to 250°C, 4 passes (JIS-K6911)

Suitable applications:
Copper pillar resin encapsulation type coreless package substrates, etc.

Remarks:
This product was exhibited at ECTC 2016 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas,Nevada, USA, from May 31 to June 3, 2016.

The SATMED e-health platform was conceived by SES Techcom Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of SES, and is funded by the Luxembourg Government and the Ministry for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action. The first deployment of SATMED in Benin successfully took place at the remote maternity hospital of Ahozonnoude in June 2014.

The new satellite-based platform in Allada will be used by Fondation Follereau Luxembourg (FFL) to communicate with doctors and medical experts around the world, access online training tools, and establish facilities such as video conferencing, data collection and analysis. The deployment is part of FFL’s efforts to establish a consultation office at CDTUB – which treated more than 700 patients in 2015 – to improve communication between patients and medical staff, raising further awareness of tropical diseases.

“We are pleased to partner with SES for this important project, which will allow early detection of symptoms in patients, significantly improving treatment and recovery rate,” said Violaine Alves, Project Manager at FFL. “Buruli Ulcer is often hard to detect by untrained people, particularly by the patients themselves or their parents, so raising awareness in the community with SATMED will be of utmost benefit.”

SES Techcom Services CEO Gerhard Bethscheider added, “SATMED has already been deployed at a number of locations across Africa to improve the speed and quality of healthcare services. In remote locations such as CDTUB, satellite is often the only means of providing consistent communication between sites, and we are proud to have been able to provide our solution to FFL in Allada.”
