Chennai: Over Rs 5 crore was spent on Jayalalithaa’s treatment after she was rushed to the Apollo Hospital here on the night of September 22, where she subsequently died after 75 days.

UP polls 2017: Akhilesh a tainted leader, a complete failure, says Mayawati
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday called Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav a "tainted leader" who had not done anything for the poor, weaker sections and farmers of the state. Addressing an impressive gathering at an election rally here, the four-time former Chief Minister also accused Akhilesh Yadav of "wasting a lot of public money" on advertisements of government projects and schemes which never took off. Asking people to be careful of the Samajwadi Party (SP) alliance with the Congress, she said any vote to them would only benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

#Gujarat: Coast Guard saves 16 crew members from two sinking vessels
In the last two days, The Indian Coast Guard saved at least 16 crew members after two vessels developed leaks mid-sea off the coast of Gujarat, official sources said on Monday. The first incident happened on February 4, when Coast Guard interceptor boat ICGS C-408 on routine patrol saved eight crew members from a sinking barge MV Priya. When the Coast Guard boat reached the vessel, they noticed that the barge was flooded up to bridge level and was listing to one side. The forecastle and the ship’s sides were completely submerged with only quarter deck partly visible and eight crew were stranded onboard.
