Drought Affected Maharashtra gets a helping hand with Radio City’s ‘Jal Hai Toh Kal Hai’ initiative

~Radio City partners with Dalmandai Foundation to bail out drought hit regions~

Mumbai, 31.05.2016: Radio City 91.1FM, the country’s leading radio network, has joined hands with Dalmandai Foundation for their Jal Ha TohKalHai campaign. The initiative aims at lending a helping hand to drought-struck regions of Maharashtra by donating water via tankers. Radio City has provided a platform via the initiative, where people can donate money for this noble cause through cheques, internet banking and demand drafts.

Keeping in line with the spirit of the recently launched Rag Rag Mein Daude City campaign, Radio City has pledged to help drought-hit villages and farmers by encouraging their listeners to donate money for this cause. Radio City visited Sri Krishna wadi of Deolgaon siddhi which is one of the many adversely hit drought areas with residents getting water supply once in days and bathing once in a month to save water. Radio City filled the ponds, tankers and wells. The station has managed to collect money and donate more than 35 lakh litres of water to 85 villages and 15 forests in Ahmednagar. Tankers holding a total of 13 thousand litres of water were sent across to relieve drought hit regions.

Speaking about the initiative, Abraham Thomas, CEO, Radio City 91.1FM said, “Jal Hai TohKal Hai is an endeavour to use our platform to highlight the plight of the farmers in Maharashtra, reeling under the onslaught of drought to our listeners and give them an opportunity to help in this cause. We are overwhelmed with the response garnered from our listeners who generously contributed more than 35 Lakh litres of water. This is yet another Rag Rag Mein Daude City Initiative”.

On 25th May, 2016, RJ Archanaof Radio City Mumbai’s famous morning show Kasa Kai Mumbai with Salil&Archana along with her team visited Ahmednagar with the water tankers and spent the whole day with the farmers and their families to understand their struggle with acquiring of water. While the Radio City initiative has been successful in providing water to them, the farmers were a real life example of ‘simple living and high thinking’. They were happy to share an authentic homemade Maharashtrian meal with the Radio City team and packed organic ‘aambalonche’ (mango pickle) for the entire team. The farmers’ families participated in dancing with the RJ and even challenging her to carry a number of ‘matkas’ full of water on her head. They were also very touched when they listened to the audio messages of Radio City listeners to boost their morale and to show them that they mattered. This warm experience was relayed live on FACEBOOK LIVE and was also recorded and shared with listeners on-air in a bid to create awareness of the hardships Maharashtra’s farmers. Through this initiative, Radio City aims to extend a feeling of belongingness, and applaud the efforts of farmers which in turn benefit the entire country.

“The old adage ‘water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink’ is actually true in today’s day and age. The situation due to drought is indeed dire and it is time that India as a whole stepped up and helped provide solution”, opined Pawan Gandhi Volunteer for Better India and Dalmandai Foundation, who partnered with Radio City in order to bring forth this initiative.

Konica Minolta to Showcase New Solutions and Products at Drupa 2016

Konica Minolta, a leader in digital printing has announced that it will showcase its products at drupa 2016, the world’s leading international trade fair for print and cross-media solutions to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany from May 31 to June 10, 2016, at its booth (A65, Hall 8B) with an area of 2,400 M2, the largest ever exhibition space for the company.

Konica Minolta is committed to further strengthening its products and services for the commercial printing market, while encouraging printing companies to introduce digital printing systems for various purposes, ranging from general commercial printing to label and packaging space, by offering both toner-based and inkjet printing systems.

Konica Minolta will showcase its latest products and solutions that bring innovations to printing tasks and help printing companies and visitors a concrete image of how its products can work in an actual business environment and help them expand their operations.

Highlights at Konica Minolta’s Drupa stand

1. Official launch of AccurioJet KM-1 B2 digital inkjet press (new product)

The AccurioJet KM-1, will be available in the market on June 2016, it can produce high-quality images comparable to those of conventional sheet-fed offset printing. Furthermore, this product is highly acclaimed and can directly print on a wide variety of paper media, ranging from art paper, coated paper and wood-free paper to embossed paper and packaging paper. The versatile AccurioJet KM-1 is capable of serving general commercial printing to small-size packaging markets. At drupa 2016, demonstrations will be given to show how this product can produce high value-added printed materials when used with MGI’s JET varnish.

2. Label and packaging printing zone

Labels and packages play an important role in communicating the characteristics of a company or brand to customers and cause them to select a particular product in preference to others. Companies seeking ways to improve their marketing operations will find ideal solutions in the label and packaging printing zone in Konica Minolta’s booth.

Konica Minolta will show how a combination of its bizhub PRESS C71cf, a digital label press capable of printing full-color labels at a high speed and JETvarnish, a product of MGI – a company that has a lot of experience and knowledge in embossing and varnishing – can reduce label print run lengths and production time and enable high-quality production of high value-added labels.
As a new application of the digital inkjet printing technology established in the development of the AccurioJet KM-1, Konica Minolta will also stage a technical showcase of the KM-C, B1 digital inkjet press for paper packages. This product can print on sheets up to 760 mm x 1,060 mm in size, with thicknesses ranging from 0.3 mm to 1.2 mm, and thus is capable of high-quality printing on various types of presentation boxes and thin corrugated boards.

3. AccurioPro, a series of solutions and services that ensure higher work Efficiency and stable print quality

AccurioPro is the brand name of a series of digital printing solutions and services offered by Konica Minolta to promote automation of printing tasks with a view to improve work efficiency, reducing production time and ensuring effective quality control. At drupa 2016, Konica Minolta will showcase two collaborative software products, AccurioPro Cloud Eye, which enables cloud-based central management of printing tasks at multiple locations, and AccurioPro Conductor, which enables operation of multiple presses at a higher efficiency.

4. MGI JETVarnish

Konica Minolta will also showcase its flagship product from MGI JETvarnish series at Drupa for various segmentsat the event.​The JET varnish 3DS with iFoil is a unique technology that takes Print to the next level by adding more value to printed documents. It is designed and manufactured by MGI with Konica Minolta to help printers expand their services. This includes new amazing spot UV and 3D tactile varnishing capabilities. The MGI’s JETvarnish 3DS with iFoil can convert regular printed output into high-margin spot UV printed sheets, or even higher margin 3D embossed jobs with up to 100 microns of varnish.

MGI’s JETvarnish 3DS with iFoil inkjet spot UV coater offers users the flexibility for two powerful and highly sought after digital finishing capabilities: traditional flat spot UV coating and new 3D digital effects. The new machine is specially designed to take inputs from the digital machines and offset as well. The machine has capabilities to digitally foil and emboss.

Utilizing MGI’s patented inkjet engine technology, the JETvarnish 3DS can accommodate sheets from 8×11.8-inch up to 14.33×40-inch and substrate thicknesses from 135 to 450gsm. Moves up one place to 55 in world ranking

Fort Worth, Texas, May 30, 2016: India’s Anirban Lahiri delivered his best finish of the ongoing PGA Tour season with a tied sixth result at the Dean & Deluca Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday.

Lahiri, the reigning Asia No. 1 and a rookie on the PGA Tour, closed the tournament with a two-under-68 in the final round to total nine-under-271 for the week at the Colonial Golf Club.

The 28-year-old Indian, who had shot scores of 65, 70 and 68 in the previous three rounds, gained three places from his overnight tied ninth position on the final day. It was his first top-10 of the 2016 PGA Tour season.

Anirban finished eight shots behind champion Jordan Spieth of the United States.

Lahiri was on a run during the first half of his round as he made five birdies till the 11th thanks to his magnificent ball-striking and two conversions from 10 feet. However, he slipped with a bogey and a double-bogey thereafter.

Anirban, runner-up at the Indian Open earlier this year, made double-bogey on the par-4 15th after finding the water hazard with his second shot.

Lahiri, who was just two shots off the lead after the 11th hole, has now moved up 13 places to 88th position in the FedEx Cup rankings of the PGA Tour. He also moved up one place in the world ranking to 55.

The finish in Texas bettered his previous best in the current PGA Tour season which was tied 21st at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia.

It was also Anirban’s first top-10 in the United States since his tied fifth finish at the 2015 PGA Championship.

Following the announcement about the formation of a "Swaraj party" in Punjab, there has been questions about its relationship to Swaraj Abhiyan. We wish to clarify that this initiative has not been sponsored by Swaraj Abhiyan. Though many colleagues associated with this initiative are from Swaraj Abhiyan, Punjab, the decision to form a political party has not been taken in accordance with the due process laid down by the Abhiyan.

Right from its beginning Swaraj Abhiyan has declared that it is committed to building alternative politics. We decided not to form a party and have laid down some parameters of Transparency, Accountability & Inner Party Democracy to prove ourselves on these criterion before such a decision of party formation can be taken. The 2nd National Steering Committee of Swaraj Abhiyan had passed a resolution to that effect.

Since the decision by the Punjab colleagues does not follow this process, we are unable to own or endorse it. However, Punjab desperately needs alternative politics to rid itself from the Akali-BJP misrule. The Congress and AAP have proven itself incompetent of being a true alternative for the state. We wish the proposed Swaraj Party well and would like to have fraternal relationship with it and any such formation which can provide a genuine political alternative to Punjab.

R.O.H.I.N.I was launched by Shri T.S.Vijayan, Chairman, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and Shri R. Raghavan, CEO, Insurance Information Bureau of India in December last year.

Insurance Information Bureau of India was promoted in year 2009 by IRDA, with the participation of stakeholders of the insurance sector, with the objective of supporting the insurance industry with sector-level data to enable data-based and scientific decision making including pricing and framing of business strategies.

According to Mr. Ravi Shankar Mishra, Co-founder & CEO, Medinfi, “Medinfi in honored to partner with IIB in its ambitious plans for R.O.H.I.N.I. project and would utilize its seamless content acquisition technology for further enhancing the database”.

Very recently, Medinfi had announced its fresh round of angel funding from new and existing angel investors, which includes Mr. Hemant Kaul, ex-CEO & MD, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance. Mr. Kaul also joined the Board of Directors of the company. Medinfi has recently signed contracts with private health insurance companies for its innovative Voice of InsuredTM model which helps in reducing health insurance claims while also getting genuine ratings & reviews from actual patients.

Medinfi’s Android Application has more than 30000 users on Google Play Store and was recently selected for Red Herring Award shortlist for top 100 Asia 2016. The mobile application is currently available in top Indian cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, NOIDA, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

NSIC organizes Interactive Meet with African Head of Missions

Shri Ravindra Nath, Chairman and Managing Director, The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) organized a successful interactive meeting with the Heads of Missions and their representatives of 19 African countries. Dr. Neena Malhotra, JS(E&SA), Ministry of External Affairs along with Under Secretary(E&SA) and Shri P.Udayakumar,Director ,NSIC were also present. In the said meeting, the delegates were briefed about NSIC’s activities in promoting & developing MSMEs and taken around NSIC’s Rapid Incubation Center for showing NSIC’s model for development of ‘self-entrepreneurship’ among the youth.The delegates were impressed with model of NSIC’s Rapid Incubation and expressed desire to set up similar center(s) in their country.
